Dr. Kyrou is one of the few doctors in Greece with full expertise in Assisted Reproduction, certified by ESHRE and EBCOG as a specialist in Human Reproduction. She was trained in infertility and In vitro Fertilization in Brussels, next to the greatest figures in the reproduction area, Professor Paul Devroey and Professor Herman Tournaye.
She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Liège (Belgium) in 1997. After specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Belgium (Hopital Français, Brussels-Clinic CHSt Vincent / St. Elisabeth, Rocourt, Liege) she completed her specialization and received in 2007 the title of Obstetrician – Gynecologist.
From 2007 to 2010 she worked as a resident and simultaneously trained in infertility and In vitro Fertilization at the Center voor Reproduction Geneeskunde-Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel, Vrije Universiteit Brussel next to Professor Paul Devroey. The Reproductive Medicine Center of the Flemish-speaking University of Brussels has been at the forefront of Reproductive Medicine for over three decades. There was first applied ICSI, TESE, and there the first pregnancy was achieved by recombinant FSH but also after pre-implantation diagnosis (PGD) for monogenic disorder.
During her 3 year postgraduate training she gained experience in surgical laparoscopy of infertility cases and received special training in Andrology under the supervision of Professor H. Tournaye. Her practices include all chirurgical techniques such as FNA and TESE, while she has recently been specialized in the recovery of spermatozoa from the testicular tissue through the new microsurgical micro-TESE technique.
Dr. Kyrou holds two PhD degrees. In 2011 she was awarded the title of Ph.D. student of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on “Steroid receptor expression in human endometrium during the follicular phase of stimulated cycles “. In 2012 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Reproductive Medicine of the Flemish-speaking University of Brussels entitled “Optimization of GnRH antagonist cycles in Reproductive Medicine”.
She has 27 publications in international journals and has participated in the writing of three foreign fertilization books. Dr. Kyrou acts as a reviewer for research papers on internationally important journals on reproduction and is an official guest speaker at international conferences.
Her current research activity focuses on endometrial receptivity and reproductive endocrinology.
